Privacy

There is no search server. Your words are never sent to us as a question: the search runs in your browser against small data files, and what you type stays on your device. The address of this page keeps your search after the #, which browsers never send to a server.

What the host can still see

The files are served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, it sees your IP address and which files your browser asked for. A file is named by a code computed from your words, and each file holds hundreds of words and results, so the file names point at a group of words, not at the one you typed. That is much less than a search engine sees, but it is not nothing: a group is small enough to guess from, and as the index grows the groups get smaller. We do not claim more than this.

Make it more private

These choices only change what the host can see about your searches. The searching itself always happens on your device.

What we do not add

No cookies, no analytics, no advertising, no fingerprinting, and nothing loaded from other sites: the page uses only its own files. Because there is no server of ours, we have no log of searches to keep, sell or hand over.

What your browser keeps

To make repeat searches fast and to work offline, your browser saves the data files it fetched (IndexedDB, in your browser only) and your “Icons” setting. “Clear saved data” at the bottom of the page removes them.

Links you check

A pasted address is compared in your browser with the downloaded index. It is not requested.
